When I moved from steamy New Orleans
to New York’s Hudson River Valley,
I found I had to alter my painting techniques
in some surprising ways. New Orleans
landscapes stay pretty much the same all year
round, but the color, light and seasons of the
Hudson River Valley are constantly changing. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Red Barn 11 X 14 | | | | Whether I’m painting a frozen waterfall in February or
long rays of afternoon sun on a country lane in August,
my brushes have to move briskly. And my favorite subjects -
